Account-to-account payments
Let customers pay from their bank account with RoPay.
RoPay is Romania's national instant payment scheme. The customer approves the payment in their own banking app, and the money moves from account to account without a card network.
How a RoPay payment works
Customer chooses their bank
Instead of entering a card, the customer pays from their bank account.
They approve in their bank app
The payer confirms in their mobile banking app, for example by scanning a QR code or following a link.
You are notified
The result reaches your server as a signed webhook, like every other payment.
About RoPay
- RoPay is operated by TRANSFOND, the interbank clearing house, under a scheme approved by the National Bank of Romania.
- It is an account-to-account scheme: it does not run on Visa or Mastercard.
- Both the payer and the payee need a bank that takes part in the scheme.
Alongside cards, in one API
A RoPay payment is reported the same way as a card payment, and the API already tells account payment methods apart from cards, so one integration covers both.
